Purpose : Introduce IT staff to SharePoint, it's requirements and design. Teaching trouble-shooting and installation on the Windows Server 2003 environment in different configurations.
Audience :   Members of an IT company or IT department that wishes to become independant and have in-house SharePoint competent personel
Prerequisites : Solid understanding of Windows Server 2003, Including IIS, web-server and TCP/IP protocol theory Understanding of SharePoint 2003 an advantage but not vital Very high level of IT literacy, understanding of SQL an advantage but not vital,
Content : Customising SharePoint, Advanced. Installation and configuration of SharePoint Portal Server on Windows Server 2003, hardware design and configuration Including preparation of Windows Server, best-practices and methods for secure and stable installation in different configurations (stand-alone and server farm), Top-level Site creation and naming, Integration with Office 2007 and SharePoint Integrated Reporting Services (for use with SQL information reports) Backup regimes and high level Website design (including reading/writing to SQL from within SharePoint Portal) Provisioning users and security while exposing SharePoint 2007 to the WAN for remote users.
