Intermediate and Advanced training can be conducted in Excel 2003 or Excel 2007 depending on the audience. Additional training sessions will be arranged if required.

Course Core:

Common tasks practice and personal development in Excel 2007

Target Audience 

Business users with experience in Excel 97-03 who  are starting with Excel 2007

Introduction to Excel 2007 Ribbon, Office button & file formats

Review of changes to and practice with :

Copying, Pasting, Fonts and Borders.

Charting, Pivot Tables, Conditional formatting

Auto fill, Formulae for effective Excel Use

 


Excel Intermediate

Course Core

Increasing skills to increase productivity

Target Audience 

Business users that have a basic understanding of Microsoft Excel 

 

Core Skills developed

Mid-Level to advanced Functions:

IF, Vlookup, Left, Right, Mid, Date Functions.

Intermediate charting with Excel,  

Manipulating  and presentation of data in the business environment

Loading into spreadsheets from various Data formats (Delimited, fixed width)

Advanced filtering, wildcard filtering, Conditional formatting,

Data validation.

Introduction to Pivot tables and uses in Business.


Excel Advanced

Course Core:

Excel as a strategic business tool

Target Audience 

Business users who want to learn how to rapidly analyse data and build small Excel applications for other users 

 

Core Skills developed

Introduction and advanced use of Pivot Tables and Pivot Charts.

Advanced functions: Sumproduct, Indirect, Match, Ceiling, Floor, Index.

Importing data and data manipulation with MS query and web queries.

Introduction to Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) - Macros.

Advanced Charting .

Spreadsheet Design best practices.

Protection.


Excel Expert Academy

Course Core:

Excel as a strategic business tool

Target Audience

Business Managers and high-level users who need expert skills in analysing data and designing and building small desktop applications. Students must already have advanced Excel skills.

 

Core Skills developed

The Excel Business Expert Academy is centred on completing a project which delivers a real business benefit. The Academy consists of an Excel foundation session, the VBA foundation course, the VBA specialisation topics session and Excel workshops. During the VBA foundation phase, the student will be expected to agree the framework of a project that he/she will complete.

a.    Excel Foundation

This session will ensure that all students are very familiar with Advanced Excel features including : Pivot tables, External queries, Data validation, conditional formatting, Protection, Advanced formulas.

b.    VBA Foundation

The VBA foundation is a series of three four hour sessions introducing students to the main principals of VBA with particular reference to using Excel in a business environment. Each session includes formal instruction, a class room project and a homework project which will be presented at the next session.

c.    Specialised VBA Topics

This is a four hour session which will rapidly introduce a series of specialised uses of VBA in Excel. The aim is to gain an insight in to Excel VBA best practice methodology. You should learn how to approach complex automation problems and the course examples can be used as reference material. You are not expected to memorise these techniques.

d.    Excel Workshops/Drop ins

Weekly Excel Workshops will be available. The Excel workshops will offer students a forum where they can drop in to discuss their project, debate possible approaches and techniques and generally seek advice.

 


Course manuals will be provided for each participant.

The training facility has a capacity of 10 students in the main training room.
